Reiki is a Japanese technique which can aid stress reduction and relaxation and also promotes healing. It is seen in the West as a Complimentary Therapy – a safe, gentle, non invasive hands on healing technique that uses Spiritual Energy to help physical ailments.
The word Rei means “universal life” and Ki means “energy”.
Reiki is the life energy that flows through all living things. It flows through energy centres (within the body) called Chakras and pathways called Meridians. It also flows around the body in a field of energy called the Aura.
If this energy or “Ki” is strong and free flowing, then a person’s body and mind is said to be in a positive state of health. All our thoughts, words, actions, emotions, beliefs affect this energy and depending on whether we live our lives in a predominantly negative or positive way, the energy flow can become disrupted or blocked. The more dense these energy blockages become, the more prone we may be to physical illness.
Reiki is a spiritual energy that helps clear through such blockages and raises the vibratory level of the whole energy field. This helps the Chakras to become balanced and allows the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way around the body. In response, the body is once again able to fulfil its natural ability to heal itself.
Reiki is a holistic system for balancing, healing and harmonising all aspects of the person – body, mind, emotions and spirit – promoting relaxation and a sense of well being.
Each session will last between 45 and 60 minutes, depending on the needs of the individual. The client receives the Reiki energy through clothing and covered with a light blanket whilst either lying on a treatment couch or sitting in a comfortable chair.
REIKI FOR ANIMALS
Reiki does not only help us humans but our animal companions too. Indeed, having no pre conceived ideas about a treatment method, observing the behaviour of an animal accepting and receiving the healing energy or Reiki is often one of the most beautiful and rewarding experiences ever.
Any animal, large or small can be helped with Reiki whether it is for a physical or emotional / psychological issue.
The Reiki session will normally take place in the animal’s own environment. Each animal is different and unique. Some animals may reject the energy of Reiki on the first session and a follow up session may be required for the animal to become accustomed.
Reiki is not a substitute for veterinary care and treatment. If your pet has any symptoms of illness you should call your vet. Reiki is safe and will compliment any form of complimentary or medical treatment.
The law currently states that before your pet receives a Reiki treatment you must gain veterinary consent, a Reiki practioner will not diagnose or recommend any form of treatment.
